Artist Statement
In my art I have tried to mingle forms, colors, textures, from nature and integrate them with those basic artifacts; boats, shields, cages, and vessels from many cultures and periods and these images into sculptural forms that are light, airy containers of displacement, memory, past and future. They are based on the forms of shells, shields, cages, and vessels, combined with skeletal frameworks.
The materials I use for my sculptures are made from bentwood, bamboo, reed, rattan, rope and other natural materials covered with skins of resin and wax. Some of the latter works are made of cast iron.
